I've had this for about 8 months with constant use. After all that time, I find this device to be solid, but not without its flaws.

I read reviews about the surface getting scratched really easily (before I bought it) and sure enough, walking around with it in my pocket on campus had it mildly scratched in a few days. No big deal, I only care that it holds my music and plays it well. This device is also really lightweight, so carrying it in my pocket was a joy compared to other players I've had over the years.

Battery life on this device varies. If you keep the default brightness setting, your battery will drain like there's no tomorrow. I've turned my brightness down and can now get several hours of use. You'll also want to make use of the power save feature, where the screen blanks out (but still plays) when no buttons are being pressed.

The user interface is really nice, there's enough here so that you can get to what you need to pretty easily. It came with transfer software but I never installed it. I use Windows Media Player to sync up, but you also have the option to go straight into the device's directory from your computer to add/remove files. In other words, you have a choice with this device, you don't HAVE to use SONY software to get music onto the player.

My biggest disappointment with this device is the trouble the power on/off mechanism causes. You have to turn the button lock on whenever you turn it off to avoid accidentally pressing a button and having it stay on for hours, draining your battery. Still a great player.

It comes with a lot of features that I like such as Photos, FM radio, easy navigation, and easy synchronization between my music library, and the player. Get this player.
