Cons:
When you fastforward/fastreverse, it does not accelerate, by which I mean the rate of moving through the file does not increase with time you hold the button down. This is not good with large files.

The low profile of the control buttons on the side (volume, hold, speaker on/off) makes them difficult to use. I use a case, and had to cut a hole where the volume control is to make it workable.

Pros:
The software is GREAT. Drag and drop onto the loader to download files or use Explorer. Move easily through the directories, with a folder section so you can see how your files are organized w/o the categories. Do this while something is playing w/o interruption.

It has a hole to hook a lanyard onto. This is important if you can't easily use a belt or armband. (You'll probably want to buy an accessories kit, get a screen protector, case, charger etc.)

When you navigate with the center button, it uses clicks -- not the hokey rotating motion taken by similar designs I believe from the iPod -- so movement is predictable. It charges quickly and the charge is long-lasting. It seems sturdy with a good, solid feel to it.

The speaker is nice for audiobooks if for some reason wearing the device is impractical or uncomfortable. The sound might be a bit tinny for enjoying music, but it is loud enough.

Other comments:
I'm very pleased with this device, and I'm a serious player user for a long time. I use only the mp3 player however, and cannot comment on the other various functions like radio, voice recording, video. I have had a series of iRiver players (OK) and a SanDisk player (junky knockoff of this device called a Fuze). Everything seems well thought out -- and works intuitively. I was using it w/o problems minutes after opening the package. Sony knows their stuff -- this is obviously the product of much experience, and worth the money.
